My Great Great Grandfather, William Merrick, (1806 -1876) Attorney and Solicitor with Messrs Timbrell and Merrick, owned a mill at Avoncliff which is referred to in his will as his mill at Avoncliff lately destroyed by fire so predates the 1901 fire. I should be interested in any information or old documents, possibly the old deeds of the mill are still in existence. One of his sons, Henry Merrick, Barrister at Law, also lived in Bradford on Avon in the Merrick House next to Christ Church and was married to a Foley and had a daughter, Olive and a son Paul.
I think north mill may have been the mill that was owned by my Great Great Grandfather. I believe it was a grist mill. Have you by any chance got any old deeds which might refer to William Merrick?
Hi John. I don’t have any documents / deeds.
Sorry i cant help.
Do you have any record of the Riordan family living in the mill on the Winsley side during the 1950s?
My parents John and Betty Bowles lived in Weaver Mill and totally renovated it into the beautiful house it is now, my father designed and had the bridge that connects the Millhouse to the main House made
I am interested in Weavers Mill as my father bought it in derelict condition about 1947/48. He made living accommodation for us in Riverhouse. We lived there till he sold it in 1962. I would be interested to hear more of the recent history. Thanks Hilary Vogel
